Today is an epic blog post for I must Confess and Listmania so hang on to your hats!
Firstly, in I Must Confess, Kirsty has us talking about music.
Before I had kids, I loved going to bands and absorbing myself in music CD’S.
This is going to sound very tragic, but whenever I had any excess energy or a bit down I used to whack on one of my favourite band’s CD and dance around the house with the music up very loud. Sorry neighbours!
Now we rely on itunes and our iPhone. Hubby has rigged up a couple of speakers in the main part of our house and we play our music through the iphone. We have downloaded all our CD’s onto the computer (which also connected to our iPhone) so we can change the volume/song/artist etc through our phones. Again a bit geeky, but it works well.
Back to business…our music interests…
Old School
1. Powderfinger
2. Ben Harper
3. The Waifs
4. Fleetwood Mac & AC/DC
5. The Killers
Now (I now tend to like certain songs rather than the artist, if that makes sense)
1. Bruno Mars: I have loved everything he has brought out
2. Pink: Anything she does…
3. Ryan Lewis and Macklemore: Same Love
4. The Temper Trap: Rabbit Hole
5. Birds of Toyko: Plans & Wild at Heart
6. The Lumineers: Ho Hey
7. Angus & Julia Stone
Now onto Deb from Home Life Simplified….her Listmania is about:
1) Your 5 top blogs you can’t live without
Well I am afraid I am a bit of a “big blogger” junkie…I get blinded by the bright lights, fancy fonts and 5,ooo+ facebook fans.
In no particular order
Fashion: Styling You and Suger Coat It
Organisation and Parenting: Planning with Kids and Life, Love and Hiccups
Health & Fitness: Ironmum Karla and Writing: Life In a Pink Fibro
I read these blogs because all of these women have found a niche or a blog direction, ran with it and have honed it to perfection. All of them have some sort of ability to turn their blog into something bigger but at the core of their blog is that they want to help other people improve or be inspired within their lives. They all have a distinct personality in their writing and most of all, it feels like you are at their house, drink in hand, spilling the beans on each others lives.
2) Your 5 new blogs you have found in the last 3-6months...
This is a lifestyle blog is written by Amber and she writes about fashion, life & food. The usual topics we all write about but her writing is fantastic. She writes so honestly and with such rawness I often have the Kleenex handy to wipe up the tears.
Peggy’s blog is pure food porn. She is a self-taught food stylist/writer/photographer with a Nordic background. Peggy shares recipes, her love of photography and her simple philsophy to life. She has also written an e-book “The Self-love Guide for the Working Mum” . Since I love food (especially the eating part) this blog is a must in my email inbox.
Caitlin is an American mum who has relocated to Australia. Brisbane to be precise. She blogs about motherhood, natural products, recipes and photography. I read Caitlin’s blog because I enjoy her perspective on life and she copes with the cultural differences of motherhood. She also reminds me of what kind of mum I should be before I turn into a cynical, twisted, sleep-deprived shell of my former self.
Not Just Cute (Amanda) is an American mum to four boys, a teacher & she has a special interest in holistic, meaningful child development. As a mum myself to 3 boys, I enjoy the ideas, activities and information that Amanda has to share with her readers. She also sends out Weekend Reads for the mums to inspire them to create, motivate and educate themselves or their families.
Another photographic & motherhood blog with a twist is Finding Joy. Rachel has 7 children and writes about finding joy in the everyday. She takes beautiful photos that really capture her intention about mothering. When I read her blog posts I feel like she has really experienced what she is writing about. Rachel does a wonderful job of connecting with her readers.
Special Mentions to My Blog friends who have supported me with regular comments, advice, shout outs and support in this huge world of cyberspace. There are many other bloggers who regular drop in to say hello (which I value greatly- Kirsty: My Home Truths , Emily: Have a laugh on me and Rita: The Crafty Expat) but these girls have been there at the start.
